GPS series

The GPS seminar is over.  Stay tuned for it's reprise!

Brad Freeman will be reprising his ever-popular two part Garman GNS 430 GPS seminar, this time at Oxford Airport, and in conjunction with the Oxford Flying club.  The
VFR Basic Operations class will be Saturday September 8 from 9:00am – 12:00pm, and the IFR Advanced Operations class will be Saturday September 22 from 9:00am – 12:00pm. The classes use PC simulators to demonstrate essential Garmin operating procedures, with special attention given to the recent Garmin WAAS upgrades. Both classes will be hosted by the Oxford Flying Club and will be held at Keystone Aviation FBO at OXC.

Veteran pilot and CFII Paul Whittaker will be giving a series of talks on a variety of topics relating to flight safety and aviation. During his 56 year career Paul has flown everything from Piper J3 Cubs to Lockheed Constellations and L-1011 TriStars and has generously offered to share his 27,000 hours of flight experience with our club members..

#2:  Flight Safety and VFR/IFR Proficiency.  -Saturday January 20 from 9:00 to 10:30 am, at Barden Corp.

I84, either direction, exit 3, Rt. 7 South,
First exit for mall, right at light, 1/2 mile on right

#3:  Spring Flying and Thunderstorm Avoidance - Saturday May 12 from 9:00 to 11:30 at Reliant.

#4 : Winter Flying and Ice Avoidance.  Saturday October 27 from 9:00am - 10:30am at Reliant's temporary location: 21 Miry Brook Road, Danbury.

This is the CAP building just past Curtiss Aero on the right. Look for the blue Reliant sign.  The topic is winter flying and ice avoidance. Winter is just around the corner, and there will be ice at altitude sooner than we think! Please join us for what promises to be a very interesting and fun discussion.

#5 - VFR/IFR risk management -  Saturday April 19 from 9:00am - 10:30am at Reliant's temporary location (see below).

#6: ADM: Making the Go/No Go Decision - Saturday October 4, 2008 from 9:00am - 10:30am at Reliant.
Our special guest will be club CFII and FAA Safety Team representative Tom Cooling.

Tom is a career ATP and check pilot with over 11,000 hours of GA flight experience. He currently flys King Air and Citation business jets and previously owned and operated the Executive Air flight school for five years. Before that Tom was chief pilot for Condor Express (DXR) flying King Air C90 and 200 series and a Citation II.

Tom will be sharing lessons learned from his extensive career. You won't get this from a book! Please join us for what promises to be a very interesting and fun discussion.

S-TEC autopilot and Stormscope series

This event is over.  Stay tuned - it may come around again.

On Saturday March 1 from 9:00am - 12:00pm we will be offering an S-TEC System 55 autopilot ground school for all club members. As most of you are aware, our new Archer III N455H is equipped with an S-TEC System 55.

This 3-hour class will cover all S-TEC System 55 operations and will make extensive use of PC simulators to demonstrate these operations in the flight environment. Operations covered include:
If time permits we will also cover the WX-500 Stormscope.

Bob Counihan has generously offered to host this training at his NYSEG facility at 35 Milan Road, Brewster, NY.  
Directions from DXR:   Take I-84 (west, towards NY) to exit 19 (rte 312).  Go North (right), make the first left onto International Blvd (which takes you into the complex), then the first real right onto Geneva Road, then the first real right onto Milan Road, cross the next wiggly intersection and =then= make a left into the parking lot, The building is just past the far end of the lot.
