How to become a member of the
Flying 20 Club:
-
Complete a Flying 20’s Club Membership
Application and submit it to
the membership chairman along with your check in the amount of $25.00
representing the non-refundable application fee. The membership
chairman is listed in the list of officers
on our web site.
SPECIAL NOTE: For times
when there are no immediate openings for membership, upon receipt of
your application and fee, the membership chairman will assign you the
next open position on our waiting list and notify you in writing of
your waiting list position. When your position on our waiting list is
called, you will be notified in writing, by e-mail or by telephone
(your choice) of our intent to consider your application for full
membership at a future club meeting. The date, time and place of said
meeting will be provided along with the notification. After receipt of
notification, review your application with the membership chairman to
be sure all information is current, making corrections and/or additions
as necessary.
- Your completed application will be reviewed by the
membership chairman, before your application is presented to the club
membership for approval. The following documentation must accompany
your final application:
- Your completed application with current
references and data.

of $500 each can be arranged).

- The Membership Chairman will present the Applicant to the
Membership at the next scheduled Club meeting. Club members present at
this meeting will vote on the application.
- After acceptance, you will have 25 days within which to
satisfactorily complete a Check Ride as specified in the following
section.
- The applicant is required to satisfactorily complete a check
ride in one of our Archers with a club approved CFI and have a specific
endorsement put in the applicant’s logbook before the new members
acceptance is final. The endorsement shall read as follows:

Check
Ride, [insert

/or approved CFIs. See the bottom of the page for a link to the

your check ride. When you have satisfactorily completed the check ride
you will be eligible to schedule our airplanes subject to our
scheduling rules, described in our Operating
Procedures.
- The content of the check ride is the responsibility of the
individual CFI. Generally, the standards required will exceed those for
Private Pilot Certification with an emphasis on safety and landing
proficiency.
- Upon meeting all of the above requirements, pay the
treasurer your first month's dues, currently $115, to become a full and
active member in the Flying 20 Club, Inc.
- Finally; upon becoming a full active member of the club you
will be given keys to all of the club’s aircraft; sign-on instructions
for our web/800 phone based scheduling system (known as Schedule
Master). NOTE: Although you will
be given keys for all three planes, pilots who are not qualified in the
Dakota (see below) may only fly in the Dakota with an instructor until
the pilot meets the insurance requirements. Violation of this rule will
subject the offender to penalties up to and including revocation of
their membership.
Dakota Usage - SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Our insurance carrier requires that any member who has more than 100
hours total time and wishes to act as PIC in the Dakota must have
logged 5 hours in either a PA28-235 or a PA28-236. If the member has
fewer than 100 hours total time, the member must have logged 10 hours
in either of those aircraft. In addition, each member must have a high
performance log book endorsement confirming their sign-off to exercise
PIC privileges in the Dakota. Members who do not meet these
requirements may not fly our Dakota, except for flying dual with a CFI,
until achieving the required minimum time.
